ABOUT JUSTIN BRAUN
Hello! My name is Justin Braun and I'm an NYC-based director. Originally from Los Angeles and raised in South Florida, I have always been drawn to the stage from performing in community theatre productions as a kid to competing in the Florida State Thespian Festival in high school. I am a graduate of the American Musical & Dramatic Academy's musical theatre conservatory and hold an MFA in directing from the University of Memphis. I also have extensive training in improv and sketch comedy from The Groundlings, Upright Citizen's Brigade, and The Second City (all in Los Angeles).
My work as a director started in film. Having been both a film and stage actor myself, I have learned to strive for absolute specificity in performance. This experience from the other side helps me work with actors in the rehearsal room.
My goal as a director and storyteller is to work with actors and designers to create a living, breathing world onstage. I am drawn to character-driven material that centers around human relationships, whether that be musical, drama, or comedy.
